Industrial Designer

Oivi is an ambitious and young medtech company developing a technology to overcome a huge challenge that impacts the lives of millions of people with diabetes. Our vision is to bring to market a low-cost artificial intelligence enabled fundus camera and automated diagnostics platform for early screening of Diabetic Retinopathy. You will work closely with our product development team to conceptualise, design, and develop medical devices and software systems that meet the needs of healthcare professionals and patients. The ideal candidate will have a strong design background and a deep understanding of user-centred design principles. This person will also have experience in the medical device industry and be familiar with regulatory requirements.

• Participate in product ideation and concept development sessions
• Conduct user research and translate findings into design concepts
• Develop sketches, renderings, and 3D models of new products and features
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to ensure designs meet technical requirements and can be manufactured cost-effectively
• Create detailed product specifications and design documentation
• Work with external manufacturers and vendors to ensure product quality and consistency
• Stay up-to-date with design trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in the medical device industry

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in industrial design or a related field
• 3-5 years of experience in industrial design, preferably in the medical device industry
• Proficiency in 2D and 3D design software such as Sketch, Rhino, and SolidWorks
• Strong conceptual and visual communication skills
• Knowledge of design for manufacturing and assembly principles
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements for medical devices such as FDA 510(k) and CE Mark 
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
